Forbidden Fruit | mixed media illustration

I've had a kick for drawing serious-looking ladies recently, and want to explore how to create a better relationship with the viewer that doesn't seem unintentional. I wanted to juxtapose the pure white outfit and pretty face with the torn-open pomegranate and ghoulish hands. She's pried apart the forbidden fruit, and the juice is running down her like blood.

You have the choice to join her, but with the look she's sharing with the viewer, you won't have long to decide.

This piece was painted on cold press watercolor paper with watercolors, Prismacolor Col-Erase colored pencils, Copic Markers, gouache, and miscellaneous pens.
