Paradise

The third and final illustration for my independent study: watercolor and mixed media on a 16x20" cradled birch panel, detailed with metallic watercolor. I wanted to capture the feeling of bright sun filtering through shady leaves on a hot, tropical day, and work to make the best use of mixed media in this series so far. I used colored pencils in this piece, which is something I used to do in my mixed media work, and think that it really helped in capturing the 'high-definition' look of the shaded leaves.
